Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved.
JDRF is the leading global organization focused on T1D research. Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with this disease, JDRF is the largest charitable supporter of T1D research. The goal of JDRF is to improve the lives of every person affected by T!D by accelerating the progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D. More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research-related education. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.
Fund A Cure is a unique opportunity to make a 100% tax-deductible donation to JDRF that will fund vital research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes. Since 1994, JDRF has raised over $186 million through Fund A Cure alone.
